All the fun things…
It’s May! We’ve been home with Maggie for 4.5 months now.
It’s truly a miracle that the last few months have gone so smoothly. No hospital visits, a happy, stable Maggie, and our family returning to a new normal.
Maggie is continuing to make small baby steps in the right direction. Here are a few highlights!
She’s vocalizing more and more. Not words, but noises.
We have confirmed that she can see from her right eye. She had some severe dryness that resulted in some raised spots on her eyeball. We are treating that and she is opening her eye more and more.
In fact, Vanessa had her moving her arms toward lighted blue dots. She was looking for them and moving her arm to them.
She continues to get stronger. She’s moving her arms more, can sit with a little support, moves her head around while in the wheelchair, and enjoys full body stretches.
We’ve caught her moving her tongue while making noises. It’s like we can literally watch those brain pathways rework. It’s so neat.
Maggie will be evaluated at Spain Outpatient Rehab next week and hopefully begin outpatient therapy there! We are so excited about this possibility.
None of this would be possible without the amazing people around us. Family who sits with her while we do life, people far and wide who have donated to her foundation, the continued encouragement from our friends and church family. This journey has and continues to be amazing. We are so thankful for all the God has given to us.
